It is with my utmost excitement that I’m able to “officially” announce my upcoming novella, A NECROMANCER CALLED GAM GAM! And with it, a tentative release date of late spring! I will do everything I can to hit my date, but as a new release I’m keeping things tentative for now!
Feel free to add Gam Gam to your Goodreads shelves here! I am actively working with the amazing Kerstin Espinosa Rosero on cover art (did I say she is amazing??), but while you wait for the reveal, I’ve decided to tease you with some promo art created by myself, featuring the spectral knight, Sir Gibblet:
Gam Gam Origins
If this bores you, hop down to the blurb to see more on A Necromancer Called Gam Gam (or click the Goodreads link).
Gam Gam began as a D&D character, I wanted to play a grandmother who tragically lost her family and decided to become a necromancer to raise her grandkids from death to get to see them one more time. This version of Gam Gam was going to be an insane whackjob, because I like playing crazy people. New Gam Gam is much more chill and hopefully relatable. A lovable grandmother who finds and cares for an orphan child. She can be a little crazy, but, like, old people crazy. Ya know? Not certifiably insane crazy.
I’m a forever DM and sat on this character for, well, forever. I brought it up in a random tweet, and then Krystle Matar and Connor Caplan bullied me into writing this story. I was going to brush it off until Krystle said something that made me rethink it (this results in spoilers so you’ll have to read to find out), and then the ending hit me and I was struck with inspiration and motivation! Just in time to go camping away from my computer…
But I persevered, I went to a store, bought these things called notebooks (they’re like non-digital writing software, they’re crazy) I sketched out my idea, and then came home and frantically wrote out the short story of Mina and Gam Gam.
Wait. Short story? But Adam, you said Novella! Yes, I did… Connor looked at the short story for me and said “make it bigger” and thus it became a novella. (Honestly though, I was already at Boord levels for my short story, so it barely qualified as a short story).
Gam Gam grew and evolved and has now become a novella that is about to enter into final edits, has a cover in design, and I have now thought of Gam Gam short stories and follow ups that will one day continue to follow the chronicles of Gam Gam the Necromancer (unless she dies! But can death stop a necromancer??? (It can, she’s human…)).
Without further ado, the–
Blurb!
