Plot: 4/5
The overarching plot for Cradle takes us on an adventure all over, with many interesting events to view. Some books followed paths that I wasn’t always the most interested in following, but Will always found a way to show that he was right for doing so. The books start out a bit slow, but they give us a glimpse early on where the story is going, and the addiction sets in as the characters become stronger and stronger.

Characters: 5/5
Will has crafted some magnificent characters through this story, and they add so much to it. They are unique, well thought of, and even though Lindon is the primary point of view throughout, you get plenty of insight into the other characters, and there is growth among everyone. The villains are crafted to be fearsome, and it is interesting to watch the protagonists change to overcome them throughout.

Worldbuilding: 5/5
The worldbuilding for Cradle is phenomenal. The magic system combines martial arts and honing magical energy (madra) in a way that creates so many unique offshoots that are so fun to see. Two characters may harness similar madra, but how they use it and combine it with other madra completely changes their style. This is one of my favorite magic systems in anything I’ve read.

The world and the creatures within it are also incredibly well designed. All of the creatures seem to have a place in the world and they fit together like puzzle pieces. The story takes us on adventures through so many magical locations that intriguing and exciting.

Writing: 4/5
Will Wight’s writing is great, and improves as the series continues. There were some pacing issues at times, but I mostly found myself pulled into the books and not wanting to leave. He is able to blend great humor with intense action in a way not many have succeeded in.

Enjoyability: 5/5
I absolutely love Cradle, and it is one of the few series I got caught up in reading one after another, it became so addicting. The epic scale of the story mixed with great action from an awesome magic system make this so compelling. This is a must for fans of progression fantasy, and honestly, for fans of adventure and action filled fantasy too.

Stick around after the books are over (from book four on, I think)! Will has done something I have not seen elsewhere, bloopers. These little bloopers are just rewritten scenes from earlier in the book with a humorous twist on them, and they are always delightful.
